I actually don't have pictures this time around ^^; I made cupcakes and forgot to take pictures right away, and then they were all eaten so there wasn't anything left to work with. I mean, success? But also fail.
So, blueberry-marshmallow cupcakes, and decided to go with purplish red blueberry buttercream for the icing and a small Flash logo meringue on top. Also Flash logo meringues and pear flavoured green heart shaped meringues, because I just couldn't get the Green Lantern logo scheme to work out to my own standards. And of course tea to wash them down with <3

Flash Appreciation Day
Feb. 2nd, 2018 22:26jadeileA friendly reminder that Flash Appreciation Day is just around the corner! On February 11th, to be precise.
I'm planning on baking something yummy, like I do every year. I recently bought a pear flavouring that I want to try on meringues, so I'm kinda thinking doing Green Lantern logos (cos if it tastes like pear, it better be green to match), just to have them at least somewhat related here. I mean, Flash himself said "The whole League deserves the honour", so it's fine.
But I also wanna do something that's actually Flash branded, so probably cupcakes again. I made some super tasty blueberry+marshmallow cupcakes recently, so I'm thinking doing an encore there. So, to make it about Flash, I obviously need chocolate Flash logos again, as chocolate is the easiest thing to manipulate into the right shape. Or I could make a few meringue logos, I just need a tiny teeny piping tube to make them small enough to work. Now that's an idea.
The real question is, what kinda icing to stick them on? My signature raspberry cupcakes have this ready-made raspberry cream stabilizer that I mix with whipped cream, but that obviously won't do with blueberry cupcakes. So, do I make purple blueberry flavoured whipped cream and roll with that? Maybe they sell plain cream stabilizer in the local market, or in the party shop I get the raspberry stuff from? That would be ideal. Or should I go with red, unflavoured (hopefully stabilized) whipped cream to make it Flash coloured? Unfortunately red with blueberry flavour probably won't be possible, since the flavour would be coming from actual blueberries and they will make the whipped cream purplish no matter what. Oh, decisions.
Also, my 4-year-old niece has a Batman costume. I wonder if I can manipulate her into wearing it for the occasion : D And I'll have to make sure my mom is wearing the Wonder Woman kneesocks I bought her for Christmas. ... damn, now I'm thinking of ways to involve the rest of the Original Seven (from the JL/JLU cartoon) too, just because I'm off to a good start here. So, how do I include Superman, Martian Manhunter and Hawkgirl into this mess... nah, probably not possible, at least without way more effort than I'm actually ready to exert.
Will any of you join in on the fun this year? : D

So, on the year 2009 it was decided that the fans would celebrate Flash Appreciation Day on 11th of February, as the episode of the Justice League Unlimited cartoon with said celebration was originally aired that day. Some people ran with it, myself included. Personally, I've faithfully done it ever since and don't see any reason to stop. Oh, fun fact: my family doesn't really care about the Flash one way or another, but all of them remember Flash Appreciation Day because each year they get to eat yummy things because of it!
I'm combining my years of celebrating into this post, mostly copied from the LJ community I originally posted the stuff to.
